The CBL would like to confirm that David Geffen will be purchasing the Tucson Express franchise from Faris Ghassan. Following months of negotiations, Geffen will relocate the franchise to the Los Angeles area and the team nickname will be revealed in the future.
The CBL would like to place on record its thanks to the people of Tucson who have supported the team through its inception and have assured fans that as part of the deal there will still be a minor league team based in Tucson.
Geffen said I am very excited to become an owner in the best baseball league in the world and hope that we can create a winning franchise that the fans can be proud of.
Geffen confirmed that the team will play in M&P Park in Los Angeles which will bring state of the art facilities for the players and first class concessions for the fans. “I will be very excited to welcome the fans to M&P Park next year.”
Geffen would not be drawn on the future of GM Gary Currier, saying only “I have agreed with CBL Commish Tim Imasa that any announcements about personnel will wait until after the current Premier series is finished.”
“We will dare to dream with this team. This team will be for the Dreamers!” added Geffen cryptically.
