October 11, Game 5 of the Divisional Series
The cheering only grew louder. Calgary had just clinched their first round series against Minneapolis, and their fans were understandably jubilant. The Millers GM just wanted to get out to the team bus as fast as possible, and get to the airport. It was a major disappointment to lose this game.
“Get your ass in here!” Erik looked up, and saw team owner Ray C. Davis standing outside his suite.
“Zimmerman would’ve won that game tonight,” Davis said before the GM could even sit down.
“He lost his only start in the post-season for Syracuse,” Erik shot back. Davis was pissed now.
“You slimy little f-ck. Keep your mouth shut. You cost us this series. Now take this and get the hell out of here,” Davis finished, handing Erik his season review letter. Five minutes after the season ended, this had to be a joke. But it wasn’t. A copy of the letter is attached below.
Enough was enough.
The GM quit on the spot, using a few choice four letter words and telling Davis he’d “find his own g-d damn way home” and to “shove the team jet up his ass.”
