First Baseman
Both acquired last season, the 24-year-old and 23-year-old, respectively, Jorge Ruíz and Zach Shannon, will be asked to split time at 1B, in a platoon. They will both be asked to be middle of the order bats, even though they are both only in their second years. Ruiz will play first against right-handed pitching, which he has already established himself as one of the better hitters in the league against. Then against left-handed pitching, the team will turn to Shannon, who will also be the designated hitter against right-handed pitching. While they are both young, they are both fantastic young players with bright futures.
