The Frisco Roughriders made a number of changes as fans await the All Star game. Cosart, Collins and Adams were all called up to Frisco.
The team hopes that some young arms will help the Roughriders pitching. Cosart has been called up to fill the 5th spot in the rotation, replacing an ineffective Iwakuma who was sent down to work on his mechanics.
Tim Collins has been called up to help the bullpen after putting up some very nice numbers at Round Rock(1-0-4, 1.17era).
Left handed hitting Matt Adams was called up to replace Ryan Howard. Adams has had a solid season at Round Rock, slugging for a .369 average with 12hrs, 36 rbis and a 1.107 OPS.
Bryce Harper has been hot after returning from the DL, raising his average to .300 while slugging at .567. Harper will spend most of his time in rightfield as the team awaits a healthy Braun to return soon. The loser is Heyward, he is in danger of demotion once Braun is ready.
Villar has been penciled in as the secondbaseman in hopes of helping the team’s pitching staff and Seager will move to third. Gyorko has been reduced to a utility/platoon role after hitting just .219 in the first half of the season.
Vazguez has hit an amazing .321 filling in for the injured Jason Castro and will continue to see a lot of action behind the plate. Hector Sanchez will continue to give him an occasional day off.
With all the reshuffling, the Frisco rotation for the second half should look like this:
Sabathia -3-4, 3.63 era
Cingrani – 1-2, 3.43 era
Tanaka – 2-5, 4.12 era
Quintana-1-0, 2.70 era
Cosart -0-0, 0.00 era (4-3, 3.67era at Round Rock)
