In 2014 Inaugural Draft, the Eugene Emeralds selected staff ace, Matt Harvey in the first round. After selecting an Ace in the first round, it is obvious that the Emeralds would go for a bat in the 2nd round. GM of the Emeralds Tim Imasa was in shocked when Troy Tulowitzki fell on his lap in the 2nd round. “I am very surprised he wasn’t selected in the first round. I guess all teams were targeting pitchers first.” said by Imasa. In 2014 Spring Training, the team was ready to go, but Tulowitzki’s stint in Spring Training did not last long. On the 2nd week of Spring Training, he injured his rib cage muscle, as a result, he was put on the DL for 3 weeks. The good news was, Tulo was set to go on Opening Day. GM Imasa had two options. Let Tulo play in the bigs right away, or send him to rehab for a couple of weeks. Imasa then decided to play Tulo in Opening Day. This move raised some eyebrows in Eugene at that time.

Tulo was average at best in the 2014 campaign. He recorded a triple slash line of .257/.315/.450 with 14 home runs and 40 runs batted in. Imasa definitely expected more out of his star shortstop. After the 2014 campaign was in the books, the question remained, should the Emeralds sent Tulo for rehab at the beginning of the season? If the team sent Tulo to rehab, would that change Tulowitzki’s performance? Imasa shrugged these questions and moved on. In the 2015 season, Tulowitzki got a mulligan. “I’m 100% healthy and ready to go!” said the star shortstop. However, Tulo continued to struggle on his second season as a Surf Dawg. He only batted .231/.294/.375 with 9 home run and 34 runs batted in. Definitely worse than his first year.

As a result of his performance in the past two season, it generated some rumors. This week, multiple sources reported that the star shortstop of San Diego is on the market and currently seeking trade partners to ship Tulo away. When the press approached Imasa for a comment regarding this rumor, “shockingly”, he didn’t give the press any comments. The question is, will Troy Tulowitzki be wearing a new uniform before Opening Day next season? Or will he stay a Surf Dawg and perhaps, 3rd time is a charm?

Stay tuned…

Rumors starting to swirl! Yay Offseason! He’ll be a good pickup I’m sure for any team. Maybe just need a change of scenery.
