Players to Watch: Southern League

SP Mac Marshall, Calgary Mavericks Organization

MacMarsh

Marshall began the season in the Midwest League, before receiving a mid-season promotion to the Southern League. At 20-years-old, Marshall was one of the youngest pitchers to make at least 10 starts and perform well. In his 10 starts, Mac went 3-2 with a 3.38 ERA. He had a remarkable 76 strikeouts and just 12 walks in 66 innings pitched, and he was a scouts dream on the radar gun, touching 98 occasionally.

With Calgary’s elite defense, Marshall may even improve upon his overall ERA when he arrives to the big squad in the near future. After going a combined 12-4 across two levels, Marshall is a key pitcher to watch at whatever level he ends up at next season. Calgary will likely at least take a look at the youngster for a small part of the Spring.

98 MPH will generally get you a chance pretty quickly.
