| Grizzlies Get Past Chicago for 3-2 Win | The Vancouver Grizzlies did just enough to secure a victory over the Chicago Dogs, 3-2, at New Northwest Stadium. Nobody did more than pitcher Johnny Fields. Vancouver reliever Steve Tessner picked up the win, upping his record to 2-1. Mike Banks was saddled with the loss. The win elevated the Grizzlies to 28-23.
Vancouver used the timely hitting of Stan Struchen to seize the win. The first baseman stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Grizzlies on top, 3-2. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"That's baseball," said Chicago manager Felix Hernandez. "Sometimes the other team plays better than yours."
