| Samurai Score Late, Upend Scrappers, 6-2 | The China Grove Samurai trumped the Mahoning Valley Scrappers, 6-2, at Canal Park. China Grove catcher Sergio Gonzáles was terrific. He was 3 for 3 with 2 doubles and 2 walks, while scoring 2. Raúl Valledor, the winning pitcher, is now 2-3. He went 7 innings, allowing 2 runs on 4 hits, while fanning 2 and walking 1. The Samurai, now 21-11, have been playing some good baseball.
Chris Guinter, the 22-year old center fielder , had a direct impact on the outcome. Guinter contributed a run-scoring ground out in the top of the eighth inning to put China Grove up, 3-2.
"I felt good up there," said Guinter. "I saw the ball well."
