The China Grove Samurai topped the Mahoning Valley Scrappers, 9-2, in Heartland League action at Canal Park. The game was highlighted by the performance of China Grove pitcher Chris Knop. Knop, now 2-2, was the winner. In 6.1 innings, he gave up 4 hits, while striking out 6, walking 2, and allowing 2 runs. China Grove goes to 20-11.

Who knows how it might've ended, had it not been for Rob Caryl? The China Grove catcher had a run-scoring single in the top of the fourth inning to put the Samurai on top, 1-0. For the game, Caryl had 1 double and 1 single in 5 at-bats.

"One win at a time, one game at a time. We try not to get too far ahead of ourselves," Caryl told the China Grove Observer.
