Veno, Blues Too Much for Generals
The Memphis Blues defeated the Washington Generals, 10-6, at Palmer Stadium today. Leading the charge for Memphis was designated hitter Joe Veno. He went 4 for 5 with a home run, a double, and 2 singles, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once. Despite the win, Memphis, now 9-21, is off to a terrible start.

Memphis used the timely hitting of Héctor Castro to seize the win. The third baseman stroked a 2-run single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Blues on top, 8-6. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.

"We need to string a few more wins like this one together," said Veno.
