| China Grove Beats Memphis, 3-2 | Both teams had their opportunities, but in the end, the China Grove Samurai got the win.
The China Grove Samurai did just enough to secure a victory over the Memphis Blues, 3-2, at Gateway Field. Nobody did more than pitcher Léo Monteil. In 5.2 innings, Monteil surrendered 5 hits, while striking out 5 and walking 0. He allowed 2 runs. Stan Hallet got the save, the 3rd for him this season.
Chris Tollett, the two-time Rawlings Gold Glove Award winner , had a direct impact on the outcome. Tollett contributed a run-scoring single in the top of the fourth inning to put China Grove up, 3-1.
"If I go out there and help the team win, that's all you can do," said Monteil.
The defeat makes Memphis 4-5.
