Surf Dawgs Win in Extras, 5-4 | The San Diego Surf Dawgs weathered a fine game by Milwaukee third baseman Lucifer Morningstar to upend the Milkmen, 5-4, at Milkmen Ballpark. Morningstar was 3 for 5 with a home run, 2 singles, and was hit by a pitch, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. San Diego reliever Gavin Weir picked up the win, upping his record to 3-1. Álex Alvarado absorbed the loss. Ira Zmijewski recorded the save. In save chances, he's now 20 for 23.
San Diego relied on the hitting of Kamalamaya Subram to pick up the win. The designated hitter clubbed a run-scoring single in the top of the 11th inning to put the Surf Dawgs on top, 5-4. For the game, Subram had 1 home run and 1 single in 5 at-bats.
"To not win that game stings a little bit," said Milwaukee manager Nate Lee.
The victory gives the Surf Dawgs a record of 46-38. | | | | |
