Spring Training Invitees
Brad Miller and John Ryan Murphy will be in spring training, on the outside looking in. Any injuries to the middle infield or catchers, they will be called up. Pitchers Steve Nelson, Ian Krol, Jake Cosart, Ty Worley and Ben Lively will all be given shots, but it appears as though they’ll all start the season in triple-A. José Marín is another one that will be given a look in spring training. Sam Barr and Steffen Smith will also get looks but most likely start in double-A. Catcher Octávio Ramírez, left fielder Justin Williams and shortstop Chase Strumpf will all go from Hawaii Winter Ball, to spring training, along with teammates Christopher Machamer and Drake Fellows. While none of these players seem to be quite ready for the major league level, more surprising things have happened, and spring training will help to tell if they are ready or not. Others may come up during the season to provide a late season boost for the playoffs.
