Harper Expresses Frustration

Today your wanted the next your not, the current daily cycle for Bryce Harper. We caught up today with Harper after practice to ask him how how he is feeling about the current trade rumors and new management. “It’s tough, one day your wanted then your not. Then upper management says your good, your staying put, of course next day its out there again.” “I am happy here and I just trying to focus on baseball, if they want to send me out then so be it but I am here to make this team a contender.”

We talked to a few from around the league and here is what they said.

Those kind of mistakes happen when a regime comes in and they don’t know the guys as well.”

Another source close to the situation says, “Certainly there are some serious issues here that are in play. I think it’s certainly reflected in some of the acquisition price they are asking for. There’s risk, and  I think they understand that. … From what I know they have done as much due diligence on the subject at hand as possibly , and they have come close to completing a transaction based on a lot of that due diligence.”

“all quantity but little quality,”

New GM Troj replied to the situation, “I feel like the answer for us is we still feel we have the right pieces, if we go out and trade Harper and get back something else outside of an ace pitcher – where are they going to play? Who is not playing? How does that affect us? What does the short-term view look like vs. the long-term commitment? Honestly, we feel very comfortable with what we have. So when a rumor starts and stops over again it could be because someone called and said hey about Harper what about this guy and that guy. It doesn’t mean the we are selling the farm or back at giving up one of the best hitters in the game. ”

Tough decision on Harper, same thing I think about Yorman. I could get a lot for him but then I think you need a weapon in the middle of the lineup (long-term) that strikes fear in to opposing pitchers and can win you games with one swing (and of course he can beat you many different ways). And hence, Yorman, for me, is untradeable. I could see Harper being traded for a huge haul but then you have to think about who replaces him?
