A few days after the Dawgs lost both of their starting center fielders–Michael Bourn and Austin Jackson–in the same game, GM Imasa inquired to a number of teams to acquire a center fielder. After quick trade talks with Traverse City GM, Steve Meyers, the deal was finalized within an hour. San Diego sent top prospect, OF Pat O’Fallon in exchange for OF Aaron Hicks.
O’Fallon, 19, is hitting extremely well in Single-A Fort Wayne with a slash line of .326/.409/.516 in 95 at-bats. On the other hand, Hicks lost his starting job to Oscar Taveras this season. In Hicks limited at-bats this year, he is batting .200/.299/.259 in 85 plate appearances.
“I am not too concern with Aaron (Hicks) numbers. I know he can hit. He’s very talented and he showcased that last year. (Hicks batted .271/.351/.397 in 2015)” GM Imasa said. “Obviously, we lost a good one on Pat (O’Fallon). He will be missed for sure.” Imasa added.
Hicks is expected to roam the center field at least for the remainder of this season.
