Business man David Geffen was spotted in CBL Towers yesterday. An office official who asked to remain anonymous, confirmed that Geffen had been visiting Head Honch, Tim Imasa. The official could not confirm the purpose of the meeting but did say the meeting lasted most of the morning.
A spokesman for Geffen, confirmed that the meeting took place but would only add that the duo were discussing a business opportunity.
Speculation has been growing over the future of the Tucson Express and Geffen may be interested in acquiring the failing franchise and relocating them.
A spokesperson for the CBL said that Mr Imasa is exploring all avenues and that nothing was off the table as far as Tucson was concerned “We will look at any proposal that might enhance the CBL further. We believe we have the best baseball league in the world, but we also appreciate that to remain in the number 1 spot we must keep on our toes.” When asked if Geffen would be buying a franchise, there was a swift “No comment.”
Media magnate Geffen, has an estimated value of $6.5 billion according to Forbes, having made his money through the music industry and latterly the film industry, where his business, Dreamworks has been hugely popular. Geffen has been a fan of baseball for many years and has been quoted in the past saying “Baseball is a game for the Dreamers. Anything can happen.”
