Admirals Acquire Seager in 10-Player Deal

SAN FRANCISCO, CA–Vallejo Admirals General Manager Noah Oppenheimer made his first trade since returning to the CBL on Friday, acquiring shortstop Corey Seager from the Charlotte Knights. The Admirals sent four top prospects, including first baseman Don Smith, middle infielder Chase Strumph, and pitchers Turner Larkins and Sam Barr, getting Seager in return as well as injured pitcher Dylan Bundy, relievers Ernesto Frieri and Josh Edgin, minor leaguers Joe Hardy and Kevin Lott, and cash considerations.  The 25-year-old Seager is regarded as one of the league’s best shortstops, a position which Vallejo was in need of help at following the untimely injury to Starlin Castro earlier this year. “We really like him and think he is one of the final pieces to solving this puzzle,&...

2016 Season Review

What a season it was! After the league agreed to a new 120-game season, up from 82, even that proved to be one game too short. Trey and his Austin Bats were on the wrong end of the play-in game, losing in nail-biting, heart-racing, stomach-punch fashion to Syracuse. It also had to hurt watching Montreal clinch the East division title with a 60-60 record, three games worse than Austin. The Orange will play Frisco, while the other playoff series’ can be seen here. Let’s take a look back at the regular season. Inside the Numbers 17-16 Frisco’s record after trading several top prospects for starting pitchers Gio Gonzalez, Justin Verlander and Jordan Zimmerman.
