Season Preview and Predictions (FL West)

Calgary Mavericks Last year 2nd in FL West 87-75 Predicted Finish in 2022……..4th 79-83 Over the years, Calgary has been the model of consistency. The franchise has never had a losing season and has never missed the playoffs in CBL history. Times are a changing though…and this division is tightening up. Calgary’s owner Todd Wells might be feeling the heat…during this offseason CAL signed a new hitting coach, general manager and a new scout who highly favors tools. Wells was also more active that he has ever been in the free agency and trade market shaking things up with his team and bringing in new talent.  We caught up with Wells outside his 8,000 sq foot log cabin in the woods…when asked about his offseason moves for the organization he had this to say, “Of the staff changes, ...

Season Preview and Predictions (HL East)

St. Louis Sultans Last year 5th in HL East 68-94 Predicted Finish in 2022……..5th 75-87 Owner Nathan Royce made big noise in St. Louis this offseason as the team rebranded itself from the Storm to the Sultans. The rebranding occurred after a 3-year run as the Storm, and Royce hopes the new uniforms and marketing efforts reinvigorate the city around their beloved baseball team. The Sultans won 68 games last year setting a new high water mark for the organization and provided a glimpse or respectability to its HL East competitors. St. Louis was incredibly busy this offseason in the warroom and working the phones. They concluded 7 trades during the offseason that had one player, SP Keaton McKinney only on the team for few days before he was dealt again. “It was a whirlwind few months” said own...

Season Preview and Predictions (FL East)

Erie Seawolves Last year 4th in FL East 66-96 Predicted Finish in 2022……..4th 75-87 Erie showed progress this year gaining five more wins over last year, however owner Doug “Troj” Trojanowski was not pleased with the results. After making the decision a year ago to bring in loads of young talent through a fire sale of veterans and let the players grow into their roles, Troj seems to be losing his patience and would like to see the team rise to relevancy quickly. Troj has a masterful blueprint developed in his mind of how he wants his team to play…however many owners have been left scratching their heads on what that blueprint might create. Lineup One thing is for certain, some tragic stories have happy endings…case in point, Jameson Taillon. After suffering a virtual career ending injury a...

Vancouver Canadians: First 1/4 Update and Review, Predictions for Season

The Vancouver Canadians are surprising many people 1/4 into the new implemented 162 game season. Many people around baseball had them to end up last in the division despite some big off season acquisitions and huge leaps from their young prospects who had a taste of the big leagues and excelled. Canadians GM Dan Courcelles never gave in to belief that his team was going to have another mediocre or sub par year. He was a believer from the beginning and even with question marks on the team, he believed that his team could be a contender this year. Currently at 22-16, only 4 1/2 games behind the division leading Millers, the Canadians have the second best record in the Frontier League and lead the wildcard spot by 4 games. To show how well they’ve played compared to the rest of the divi...

Today, we’ll be taking a look at the realigned Heartland League East Division.
