2026 Season Predictions – East Side Edition

Heartland League East Division Regina Reapers (projected 5 th 62-100) Another year, another new leader in Regina. Will Matt be Regina’s great savior? Time will tell. Unfortunately, he has inherited a franchise with a very murky future. Regina finds itself in a situation where in order to get wins, they might have to just flat outscore the other team. Lots of 10-8 games are in their future. Having said that..they still have some firepower to do it with stalwart all-stars like J.Kilpatrick and R.McGuire who can win games single-handedly for the team. The Reaper’s pitching staff is currently in shambles…with team leader Strasburg still sidelined, the team will have to look to Dylan Steen to represent as the ace of the staff (yes, the same Steen who had a 4.5+ ERA and lost 14 games last year)....

2026 Season Predictions – West Side Edition

HL West Richardson City Bloodravens  Predicted Record: 88-74 2nd place   Let me start out by saying there’s a reason I used RC’s last championship banner as there picture. The team is ALWAYS on my radar to win it all. Every year I wonder if the Bloodravens will crumble but every year they are one of the premier teams in the league. Young Guys looking to be the next wave in the dynasty are here! Alfredo Espinosa is a guy to watch on this team as he’s got the stuff to compete with every hitter and he’s had a year in the pen to help pave his way to the CBL. GM Imran has used this technique before with young pitchers and it seems to always work out. Another player everyone should keep an eye on in RC is 1st basemen Gilberto Lopez. Lopez puts on a show in batting pr...

Possible Free Agent Destinations and Offseason Trade Rumors

The 2025-2026 off season is here and the list of free agents looks intriguing for any team. There are seasoned veterans who broke out and impressed, even though they are on the wrong side of 30 (See Gary Sanchez), there are young pitchers who are going into their first free agency (See Jim Beauregard and Ben O’Farrell), and even an international player with no history of playing any baseball in a recognized league (See Katsuharu ‘Spot’ Azuma). There’s something for every team and there’s no doubt that money will be flying in the direction of many of these free agents. Here’s a look at some possible destinations for the top free agents and other free agents that might not be as known but might have a chance to break out with a new team or have an interest...

HL East Predictions

Finally time for the last division in my 2025 predictions: HL East In full disclosure I had asked GM of the Austin Bats Trey Schalk to give me his predicted win/loss record for the Altoona Curve. 2024: 102-60 What can be said about Mahooning Valley. They are dominant. Pitching is the name of the game in MV. Mike Wheeler was amazing last season! So was Artie Lawerance. Jackson Gillis actually had a down year for him and still finished 15-8 with a 3.83 era. Damian Cooper has been a stud since coming over from Altoona! Braxton Davidson and Harold Castro lead an offense that puts up runs in bunches. 2024 was just another example of pure baseball dominance by MV… when will they win that elusive championship though? 2025 prediction: 99-63 2025 will be another fantastic season for MV. A sli...

HL West Predictions

Moving right along now to the HL Portland Panthers 2024: 95-67 Portland is a team that everyone should admire. The CBL depth along with the minor league system they have is incredible. Portland showed even more promise last season. Making it farther in playoffs losing game 7 to Altoona in the HL championship series. Portland had a wonderful blend of power, contact, defense, and pitching. 2025 prediction: 97-65 Still moving on up is Portland, they improve every season. I love the upside of their young pitching like Wes Hines and Chris King. Jacob Gatewood should have a bounce back season and John Devine has really made a fantastic start to his career. I think Portland should be a repeat HL West champion Colorado Goldsox 2024: 78-84 Last Season we saw a very impressive second half by Colorado. ...

FL East Predictions

Time to finish up my predictions for the FL. This division once again is one of the more intense and interesting battles in the CBL. I have a feeling CHR and ERIE will become quite the rivalry. Charlotte Knights 2024: 88-74 Last season saw Charlotte’s young guns Machamer, Mondile, and Newly acquired Trent Johnson emerge as forces. For years we saw GM Matthew Wells groom Machamer and Mondile. His patience really paid off. These two look like they should be studs for years to come. Matthew also acquired long time bats favorite Joe Campbell last season which should pay off in a big way come 2025. Justin Williams showed he was worth the contract the Knights dished out as he gave them the best season of his career to date. Not to mention how dominate Charlotte’s bullpen was! Jesus A...

FL West Predictions

Another CBL season is about to commence! Last year my predictions were incredibly flawed and inaccurate but I’m here to give it my best shot again this year. Let’s start off with the incredibly entertaining FL West Dancouver Danadians 2024: 101-61 Last season for Dancouver saw some old faces leave but had the same results. Losing Jeff Hoffman didn’t seem to slow them down at all. Dancouver was an impressive blend of offense, defense, and pitching and once again excelled to the best record in the FL. 2025 prediction: 94-68 94 wins for Dancouver?!? I must be out of my mind! I’m predicting a little bit of a slip with Dancouver. They seem to be moving towards a younger new wave, which actually while the wins may be down a little bit I think this actually bodes well for t...

FL East 2024 Season Predictions

FL East  Previous Division Champions Previous Record: 87-75 Prediction: 78-84 X-Factor: Controversial to have a division winner fall this low. Honestly this division is a tough one for me but the Knights will probably be better this making other teams be a little worse. I think losing Gennett may hurt and their rotation doesn’t strike me as a division winning rotation. To me they are a lot like HL West’s Portland good at everything but not dominate at anything. I could be off base with this prediction but I think Nash will have a difficult path towards playoffs. Previous Record: 86-76 Prediction: 85-77 X-Factor: I think TC is always tough to judge, they have some real great players and Rondon is feared all around the league. Ultimately I think there team finishes much the same ...

FL West 2024 Season Predictions

FL West  Previous FL West Champion & CBL Championship Winner Previous Record: 103-59 Prediction: 97- 65 X-Factor: I’ll be honest here, they are pretty damn solid all the way around. That being said I’ve seen based on my scout some significant drops in Hoffman and Fernandez. I’m sure they’ll still be fantastic but can the Three headed beast hold their dominance much longer? Plus I may be the only one but I don’t think Mitch Hart has a repeat year or Thatcher for that matter. I’m not hating although I’m sure Dancouver GM won’t love this preview of them. They are still fantastic I’m just not sure how much longer their top guns will reign supreme. Previous Record: 84-78 Prediction: 88-74 X-Factor: Big Years for Smith, Acosta, Arvizu, an...

HL East 2024 Season Predictions

HL East Previous Division Champions Previous Record: 105-57 Prediction: 100-62 X-Factor: An all-around team without a doubt. The new evil empire of the HL East dethroning longtime dominators the Syracuse Orange (Regina Reapers). I think their X-Factor is quite simple… Clutch performances on the big playoff stage. This team should have a title by now. I think Jerry Stollings will have a breakout season this year and the team will be absolutely sickeningly dominant again, but will Edgin crash and burn in playoffs again? This team needs to show they are ready to win more titles for the HL East… Previous Record: 97-65 Predictions: 87-75 X-Factor: I think Regina needs to retool a bit. Could be wishful thinking but this team doesn’t scary me as much as it use to. Losing Justin ...

HL West 2024 Season Predictions

HL West Previous Division Champion Previous Record: 100-62 Prediction: 94-68 X-Factor: Bullpen is a subject for discussion on this Austin team. Their offense fires on all cylinders and you have to love their starting rotation, but can their bullpen close out the close games? Expect Clayton Keyshaw, Austin Torres, Charlie Head, and Kenley Jansen too all be important players for this Bats team. If they pitch well then this team can go the distance. Previous Record: 95-67 Prediction: 85-77 X-Factor: The HL West has gotten stronger this year so you’ve seen my predictions take quite a few wins away from both Austin and Portland so far. Portland is pretty special all the way around but I’m not sure they are dominant in any category unlike division rivals Austin (Offense) and Richards...

Previews and Predictions (HL West)

Richardson City Blood Ravens Last year 1st  in FL West 97-65 Predicted Finish in 2022……..1st  95-67 Two time champion Richardson City, and legendary owner Imran K set a franchise record in wins last season with 97.  Imran, regarded by most of the league as a wily veteran that always gets the most out of his players, should be setup once again for a deep playoff push.  When you consider what RC had to overcome in injuries last year, their winning season becomes even more impressive.  Like a chess master moving pieces around his board, Imran closed FA deals this offseason that created depth and flexibility to his CBL roster.  He was also active in the minor league market signing 15+ players to minor league deals with cash signing bonuses to bolster his minor league options.   Lineup RC ...
