Round 1, Pick 13 (Charlotte Knights): RF Seth Rollins (Miami College)
Rollins is another who didn’t play college baseball until this season, but in his limited time, he too has dominated, flirting with a .500 batting average 20 games into the year. He has good speed with strong base running instincts to go along with his quick bat speed and good hand-eye coordination. While he hasn’t shown it this year, some scouts believe he could have 20+ home run power. He appears destined for a DH role though, but could suffice in the outfield if a team is willing to sacrifice some defense.
A comparison to Golden Joe Donaldson may be suitable for Rollins, but a Jose Tabatha comparison may be more suitable. It comes down to just how well he hits, because if he’s going to be a perennial .300 hitter, a team will get him in the lineup.
