2016 1st Round Draft Profiles and Future Projections (Part 4 of 4)

This is a continuation of The Draft Profile Series

Part 1, Part 2, Part 3.

Author’s note: I am using Billy Beane’s scouting projection, who is deemed ‘outstanding’ at judging amateurs by his peers and greatly favors tools over guys who are more ‘ready’. The bias will be taken into account in publishing the most accurate, objective, scouting reports.  The ceiling comparisons are based on a) if the prospect reaches his ceiling and b) the comp’s prime

Thank you for this series, Imran. I agree with your assessment on Collins. He’s kind of a gamble really. His potentials are nice, but his work ethic is slow. Maybe I’m over thinking it, but I have some concerns if he can reach his full potential.

Thanks for reading. My scout likes him but they are pretty much all gamble haha especially at the point you were choosing. Upside is big!

Will be interesting to look back on some of these names a season from now.

  3. Just got to this. Great work. LOL on the TC Bums pick. ‘fell into their lap’ & ‘get richer’…we’ll see. But, he is ‘toolsy’ and you are right…the kind of player we love. ‘Tools before titles’ is our motto.

haha ‘tools before titles’. Thanks for reading, Steve. Thought you’d like that comment. I was doing some research on ‘best minor league systems’ just to satisfy my own curiosity and you were right there at the top. That’s how good teams stay good!
